This Yoga Pants Pattern was inspired by the Lululemon Yoga Shorts. These shorts are high waisted and very comfortable. There are three pattern pieces and you can find the tutorial in the Lady Bee Keeper blog.
.
Fabric Recommendations:
1/2 yard Activewear Fabric
Printed fabrics are fun! Pair bold designs with a neutral top.
Solid colors are also a good option and the length of the shorts can be adjusted.
Another option is to use coordinating colors! Classic black with a bold color looks great.
Topstiching can be done using a Cover Stitch machine (I don’t have one of these yet but I’ve been wanting one for a while). Cover Stitch machines are similar to Serger Machines and they are commonly used in activewear, you can use two or three needles and the topstiching looks very professional.
If you don’t have a coverstitch, you can also use a serger or a regular sewing machine.
Sewing with Knits
Sewing with knits can be tricky at the beginning, but once you learn the basics it is even easier than sewing with woven fabrics. Below are some tips:
- Cut with a Rotary Cutter.
- Use Ball Point Jersey Machine Needles
- In regular machines, use a zig zag stitch and Stretch Twin Needles for the hem.
I hope this post inspires you to sew a few yoga shorts!
Happy Sewing,
Anabelle
