I made this great organizer using the pattern A Place for Everything designed by Annie Unrein. She teaches how to sew this sturdy travel organizer in the class Sew Sturdy Travel Organizers. It features removable pocket pages with pocket arrangements in four styles feature zippered pockets (finished size 10in H x 13-1/2in W x 4in D).
Pattern: A Place for Everything designed by Annie Unrein
Craftsy Class: Sew Sturdy Travel Organizers
Exterior Fabric: Cotton + Steel
Stabilizer: EVA Foam Underlayment
The sturdy travel organizer can be use to store all kind of sewing supplies. I’m using mine to organize my gold star presser dies and hole punch dies.
For this project, Annie recommends Soft and Stable, but I used EVA Foam Underlayment commonly used for floor installations and I’m pleased with the result. For my Catch All Caddy (also from Annie Unrein), I used the Soft and Stable, but I prefer the foam underlayment because is thinner, easier to sew, it doesn’t crease, and it is also cheaper than the Soft and Stable. I highly recommend it!
In the interior, the sturdy travel organizer has two mesh pockets one of them is open the other closes with a zipper. You’ll need Zippers by the yard for this project. I used aqua zipper, but for the next one I would use the Nylon Metallic zipper – those are nylon, but look like metal. Sign up below to receive 10% OFF your first order of Nylon Metallic Zippers.
Annie’s binding technique is the best! The class also includes the pattern and instructions for a hanging cosmetic bag!
Happy Sewing,
Anabelle
