I made these Crossbody Bags with the Gerbera FREE Pattern. The Gerbera Crossbody is a great pattern if you are in need of a quick craft show or gift item! It has a feature center panel where you can focus a small piece of your favorite fabric, a gusset and a few pleats along the bottom. You can make the Gerbera as either a wristlet or a mini cross body bag.
The finished measurements are: 10.5″ W x 6″ H x 4″ D
Pattern: The Gerbera Mini Crossbody Bag
Fabric: Navy Blue leather (from Mood Fabrics) and Beauty and the Beast Stained Glass Fabric
Stabilizer: Fusible Fleece (in the middle)
Zipper: Nylon Metallic Zipper – Silver
I made this Beauty and the Beast bag for my son’s girlfriend. She was Belle in the High School Beauty and the Beast musical and my son was The Beast. This has been her favorite show and she loves everything Beauty and The Beast.
It brings great memories for all of us – we all enjoyed this musical so much š
This is my second Gerbera, this time in cork and Art Gallery Avantgarde Steps Above Prism Fabric – I’ve seen this fabrics in other bags and I had to try it.

2 yards Fusible woven interfacing
1/2 yard Fusible fleece
Notions and supplies:
(1) 6-inch zipper (or longer, will be cut down)
(1) 10-inch zipper (or longer, will be cut down) – I used silver nylon metallic zipper
(2) D-rings (I used 1/2″)
(2) swivel clasp (I used 3/4″)
(1) 1ā rectangle slide
The Gerbera Mini Crossbody Bag features an interior pocket and the pattern provides instructions to turn the bag through the zip pocket . I added a tassel that I made using a tassel cap.
I love that these zipper pulls have a hole where you can hang the tassel.
I used this stunning silver zipper! I’ve been using them for all of my recent projects! Sign up below to receive 20% OFF your first order.
I also added one of the acrylic tags that I got from Maple & Rose (They look like metal, but they are acrylic – you can customize it however you want)
This was my first project using real leather – and I’m very happy in how it turned out.
This is a fast project where you can use your fabric remnants.
I changed the installation of the D-ring strap – instead of sewing it to the side seams as instructed by the pattern, I added it at the end and attached it to the zipper tabs with a rivet.
The Nautical Zipper Pouch Tutorial includes Illustrated instructions in how to attache the D-Rings to the zipper tabs using rivets.
I hope you find this FREE pattern useful,
Happy Sewing,
Anabelle
